Lessons in Luxury Content Creation from a Successful Influencer Duo.

Share

Denis Colak and Nimi Blackwell are content creators with a twist: more often than not, they work as a duo. And since joining forces on an influencer marketing campaign for Burberry, to great success, they’ve found their USP in creating scroll-stopping content for it brands ranging like Dior, Bulgari, Tiffany, Prada and Gucci.  Their perspective on what it takes to get noticed, drive consumer engagement and build relationships with the most exclusive industry in the world is unparalleled – and it all comes to light on the MG Empower podcast.

In S3E11 of Beyond Marketing The Podcast, our platform for thought-provoking conversations with creators, business leaders and everything in between, our founder and CEO, Maira Genovese, and account director, Steff Gerrard, had the opportunity to sit down with Denis and Nimi for a tell-all interview about their experiences as a content creation duo. The lessons that emerged hold enormous value for creators and brands alike, so let’s explore two of these right now.

Listen to the episode to find out:

  • Why working as a content creation duo works so well for Denis and Nimi
  • What it’s like to work with luxury brands, from barriers to entry to the nature of the briefs
  • How to make a winning mood board

Lesson #1: Pave your own path.

It might sound a bit paradoxical, given Denis and Nimi are such a closeknit duo (in the episode, they even answer a few questions as if they share a kind of twin telepathy) but one of the strongest messages they had to share was the importance of paving your own path – and crucially, not waiting for permission to do what you want to do.

This goes right back to the reason why Denis and Nimi started working together. As Denis puts it, “[Being a duo] was our decision. The turning point? A Burberry collaboration for their Winter Collection. The content performed, and the requests came flooding in.”

Lesson #2: Find your balance between flexibility and being yourself.

When we asked Denis and Nimi about their content creation process, they honed in on the importance of going with the flow: “There isn’t a simple answer. Our process changes day by day. Last year, we were both creating content for brands where the Reels were super-romantic and slow-mo, but now we’ve shifted to a faster pace. … It’s always a balance of looking at what the brand is doing right now and thinking about how I can put my spin on that.”

But equally, and perhaps most importantly, these creators share a love of content briefs that are open to their creative interpretation. When asked about their favourite brief ever, Denis mentioned a Dolce and Gabbana collaboration that she did with her partner, where the only ask was to create couple-centric content to promote a male and female perfume – everything else was up to her.
