Zilch, a payments app with a strong USP in the UK, challenged MG Empower to devise and execute an influencer marketing campaign that would make the brand the front-of-mind app for consumers looking to spend smarter. So, we partnered with 16 creators from diverse backgrounds to generate creative content, tackling negative connotations and ultimately building a new fanbase for Zilch in the target region.

Make Zilch a front-of-mind app for UK consumers to spend wisely.

As an up-and-coming payment app that was finding difficulties in getting past an initial growth burst, Zilch was looking to re-ignite registrations in the UK by driving awareness around their USPs: their BNPL offering and positioning as the app for cleverer cashflow management.

Give cross-vertical creators the freedom to entertain and educate in their own way.

In the procurement phase, we focused on identifying trusted mid-and-micro-tier creators from a range of verticals and niches in order to generate creative content, inspired by the diverse ways Zilch can be used. We then gave 16 influencers free rein to pitch their own content ideas based on key messages and brand information that we designed to be as inspiring as possible, leading to interesting outcomes and huge engagement potential.

Results.

Creative content led to high engagement and converted key audiences.

The creators’ content was diverse and ultra-consumable, with many coming up with out-of-the-box ideas and a notable correlation between creativity and conversion. Comedic, fashion, lifestyle and travel narratives were particularly high-performing for Zilch and its brand sentiment, effectively breaking down negative connotations surrounding financial apps – and achieving the brand’s key goals of driving awareness and registrations in the UK.
