Bringing the fun back to Thursdays to change Deliveroo’s brand perception in the UK.

Thursday nights used to be a big deal. Since the pandemic? Not so much. So Deliveroo, the UK’s favourite food delivery app, wanted to bring the fun back to Thursdays – while increasing sales, brand affinity and engagement in one fell swoop. That’s where we came in.

Challenge.

Shift brand perception and increase sales by amplifying Deliveroo #TastyThursdays.

Before #TastyThursday, people chiefly associated Deliveroo with weekends. That needed to change. So our key challenge was to increase midweek purchase consideration by driving new habit formation and embedding the app into consumers’ weekly lifestyle regimes – supported by the rollout of a 20% discount every Thursday.

Strategy.

 

 

 

Activate micro-to-mega influencers to create engaging and creative content, inspiring users to take advantage of the #TastyThursdays discount.

Hilarious situational comedy sketches – improvised living room night clubs, DIY fine dining experiences and at-home festivals – compared Thursday nights with and without Deliveroo to get people thinking about the real life impact of #TastyThursdays. Rolled out over three months, our influencers’ TikTok and Instagram content worked to both entertain and educate our audience, driving home the idea that life is better with Deliveroo.

Results.

Personality matters: high views, strong performance.

The numbers speak for themselves – high views, strong performance, over-delivery on KPIs – but the biggest takeaway from our sentiment analysis was an outpouring of love and adoration for the influencers that got most creative with their content.
